Top 10 Songs to Play on the 4th of July

It’s a tradition of mine to listen to certain songs on the 4th of July. When asked what my favorite holiday is, Independence Day is my number one – without a doubt. I realize most people love the holidays that involve presents, good food, family togetherness and the cozy feeling of being near a fire. I do too. Who doesn’t love presents? But the 4th of July just sparks that patriotic southern spirit of mine into a full blown fiery happiness.

I want you to envision the warm summer day, the smell of barbecue filling the air, family and friends gathered around, kids splashing in the pool (lake or river), the love of one another and country, the parade’s and of course the magnificence of bright fireworks filling the star filled night sky. How can you not be drawn to a single day like that, that happens every year?

Back to my tradition of certain songs on Independence Day. I’m not totally sure why I have this tradition and most of these songs wax nostalgia of my younger years and this holiday. I suppose that is why they have become my top songs to listen to. I know that when I hear them at any other time during the year I immediately yearn for the July festivities. So here you go, the list of songs you must listen to (because I do) on the 4th of July.
