Southern Style Chicken & Rice

Chicken and rice is a staple in my house and if you have ever lived in the south, you know it’s a common meal down there. It’s extremely simple to make and cheap. Plus chicken and rice goes a long way and/or can feed a lot of people. So here is my southern style chicken & rice recipe.

Southern Style Chicken & Rice
Recipe type: Dinner
Simple southern style recipe for Chicken & Rice.
  • About 2 packages or 1 large package of boneless skinless chicken breast
  • I use a whole package of rice (your choice flavor I prefer just white)
  • 1 large can cream of chicken soup
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • Tony Chachere's Creole Seasoning
  1. Place your chicken in a pot of water and boil.
  2. In another small pot, put cream of chicken and chicken broth. Set on low to simmer.
  3. Once the chicken is boiled and cooked pull it out of the water in a strainer.
  4. Drain any excess liquid from it then place in the ice box to cool.
  5. Boil the rice in the water that was used to cook the chicken.
  6. Once it starts getting tender and absorbing the liquid add the cream of chicken and chicken broth (and water as you go to keep it all moist).
  7. Pull the chicken from the ice box and shred into the rice mixture.
  8. Stir in as little or as much Creole Seasoning!
