Best Song Lyrics

You know it’s been some time since I really wrote a post about music. You all should know by now that I love writing about hair, makeup etc on this here blog of mine. And you know that I have enjoy learning and reading from the best fashion blog. But I also LOVE music. It’s all a part of me and this whole culture I am immersed in. Music plays a strong role in my life and forever will. And as I was driving down the road the other day I realized I wanted to share some of the best lyrics I have heard in various songs. Hopefully you’ve heard them and hopefully I might introduce you to some new ones!

1. Ray LaMontagne – Empty

Lay your blouse across the chair,
Let fall the flowers from your hair
And kiss me with that country mouth so plain.

These are only three of my favorite lyrics in this song. This song is almost like magic to me and Ray’s voice is probably one of my favorite things to hear at any point in time during the day. He very much has that smokey bar voice that always makes you look twice and listen real hard. I mean this, Well, I looked my demons in the eyes laid bare my chest, said “Do your best, destroy me.You see, I’ve been to hell and back so many times, I must admit you kind of bore me.” cannot possibly do nothing for you. If so, then we are two very different people.

2. Ray LaMontagne – Jolene

I told you I have a huge love for Ray LaMontagne and Jolene is a serious reason why. I mean with lyrics like this:

A man needs something he can hold onto
A nine pound hammer or a woman like you
Either one of them things will do

How can you deny that he has that something!? Either way, you are best to look up this entire song and really give it a listen. It’s phenomenal.

3. One Republic – Secrets

I bet you didn’t see this coming did you?! But seriously, the lyrics in this song are pretty amazing. Think about these for just a minute {or go read all of them}:

Sick of all the insincere
So I’m gonna give all my secrets away

I cannot tell you how many times I’ve thought this. Have you not? What about this:

I need another story
Something to get off my chest
My life gets kinda boring
Need something that I can confess
‘Til all my sleeves are stained red

Yeah. Love it.

4. Pitbull (Ft. Ne-Yo, Afrojack, Nayer) – Give Me Everything

If the last song threw you for a loop this one should most definitely. Yes it’s one of those dance, hip-hop, pop type songs that most older adults cringe when hearing, but I want you to take stock of your life and goals and read these lyrics for a moment:

Tonight I want all of you tonight
Give me everything tonight
For all we know we might not get tomorrow
Let’s do it tonight

Yup. We seriously may not get tomorrow. Are you willing to chance that?! I am not. So just think about it for a bit.

5. Breaking Benjamin – I Will Not Bow

Besides this song being on my workout playlist it’s a go to song to pump me up at any point in time.

All is lost again
But I’m not giving in

I will not bow
I will not break
I will shut the world away
I will not fall
I will not fade
I will take your breath away

Yeah this gets my blood pumping and it pushes me. Big time.

6. P!nk – Fuckin’ Perfect

I’m pretty sure everyone has heard this song by now, if not you are not into any sort of popular music and that’s a-ok with me! But this whole songs message is pretty amazing.

You’re so mean when you talk
About yourself. You were wrong.
Change the voices in your head
Make them like you instead.

It too is a great reminder to love ourselves a little bit more.

7. Staind – Fade

I think at some point in our lives we have all faced some pretty ugly demons and were mad at someone. We’ve all wanted to crawl under our desks, have our cry and ask some ugly questions,

I only know that I can change
Everything else just stays the same
So now I step out of the darkness
That my life became ’cause

I just needed someone to talk to
You were just too busy with yourself
You were never there for me to
Express how I felt

Take the time to listen to the rest of this song and read the lyrics. They could easily resonate with you, trust me.

8. Pink Floyd – Wish You Were Here

I think everyone in the world should know this song, hear this song and love this song. Some of the lyrics in this song are actually quite infamous, but I still have my favorites;

And did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?

This song is by far one of my all time favorites and it should be yours too.

9. Simon and Garfunkel – Mrs. Robinson

I think I heard someone did a cover of this song. They suck, just sayin’. And while this song may not hold any deep meaning and just be a fun little tune every single time I hear these lyrics;

Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio
A nation turns its lonely eyes to you (Woo, woo, woo)
What’s that you say, Mrs. Robinson
Joltin’ Joe has left and gone away
(Hey, hey, hey…hey, hey, hey)

I get some serious goosebumps. Maybe I just read into things too much, but if you just think about the times and these lyrics — it’s intense in a way.

10. Bob Marley – Redemption Song

I know you are thinking my music selections are all over the place and trust me, I have plenty more to share. But this songs lyrics are also extremely very infamous and noteworthy.

We forward in this generation

Holy crap those six words are amazing. And these, well these we all know:

Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery;
None but ourselves can free our minds.

Well those are words we should all live by!

Don’t worry dear readers I shall even more great song lyrics to share with you! I’m hoping to do this weekly and give you a nice musical break while you are making yourself look ever so lovely! You can also check out more music posts too!
