30 Minute Meal Ideas

Brent and I went the other day and bought a nice grill finally. Now with a pool and grill, most of our days will be spent outside in the sun. The positive to having a grill is less dishes and cooking for me. I do the prep work and the side dishes. Super simple. I will be soon investing in some paper plates so we won’t even have to worry about that.

But still Brent won’t be here all summer and grilling won’t be happening every single day. So I need 30 minute meals to keep us fed and quickly during the summer.

Here is a list I came up with and some others I have found on the web. Hopefully you’ll leave me with some ideas too.

Nachos has always been a quick meal for me to fix but what do I serve it with?

Also super quick but again..what can be served on the side?

Soup & Sandwiches.

I love making a big pot of soup and eating egg salad sandwiches with it.

Crock Pot Meals.

I have always been super creative with throwing anything in the crock pot. And like grilling, I don’t have to clean up a bazillion dishes.

Burgers & Hot Dogs.

Both are easy and quick and I know what to make as side dishes but I would love to get creative with both and the side dishes. We need something different and not the same ol’ ol’ boring meals.

And besides frozen meals and eating out that’s all I got for quick meals. I want new quick meals, new side dishes that don’t taste blah and even new drinks that I can whip up for me and the kids. I make a lot of juice and tea but still I need ideas to spruce those up too!

So link up in the comments some great quick meal and drink ideas for me! Let’s make this a 30 minute summer!

  1. Lauralee Hensley says:

I’d just make a big bowl of chopped mixed fruit for a side, you could put raspberry vinegrette on it, if you wanted or a big of pineapple juice.
Pineapple slices is a good side, or flavored applesauce.
Who says a side has to be a vegetable all the time.
If you do have to have a side dish that’s a vegetable, how about celery sticks, carrot sticks, strips of green or red bell peppers. Something that doesn’t have to be cooked and can be made ready the night before if needed.

those are some nice summery meals that can be ready in a flash so you don’t have to spend too much time in a hot kitchen. I like that!

  4. If you have a rice cooker, you can use it almost like a crock pot for quick meals. I’ll throw rice, corn, onion, chopped cilantro, carrots, chipotle seasoning salt, taco sauce, etc. into the rice cooker, let it cook, then scoop some of the rice mixture into a flour tortilla with some cheese for a burrito. You can add beans, meat, etc. Or if it’s a really long day, I just throw some brown rice and frozen spinach in there and serve with some butter and garlic salt – haha. I also love Quesadillas for a super fast, easy meal. And egg scrambles! I will scramble up whatever I have and serve it as a main course – veggies, meat, seasonings, etc.
